I am a gay man and I know why I look there but, I have noticed several guys giving me and other guys the once over then keeping their eyes on the crotch area. All of these men can't be gay or bisexual. So are the just checking out the competition or what?

Can't it be that they are just curious?
That there is no sexual thing behind this?
They do know what there is in that area.,right?
Isn't it a bit like in high school after gym?
Taking a shower with say 25 dudes?
They check each other out so they can confirm,that they are OK,the way they are.
Maybe it's a matter that they forgot?:real life ain't high school:but they keep comparing.

Seizing up ain't such a big deal is it?
And you can start by winking at them,after they did.
See what happens.
If they react violently you could always say that you got dust in your eye and tried to get rid of it.And ask what his problem is?

Many, in fact, I'm willing to guess 95 % of straight people will still venture to sneak in that unintentional glance at another person's crotch, regardless of orientation. Male / female / whatever! Not because they actually want to act upon the feeling they may automatically get once they spot what interest them, but curiosity has them guessing who's bigger - themselves or the person whom they are glancing at.
TOTALLY INNOCENT glances seem to be acceptable - just don't read anything into it.

All gay men look at another guys pants front and back. It is just the natural thing to do.... I also have straight guys looking me up and down and it makes me wonder if the are really straight.

In my view you have already answered the question. We are all curious about those around us. Be it competition or comparrison. Both men and women size each other up. Women are alowed to do it more openly but men do it too.
Next time your are in a locker room, you will notice that most men are secretly cheking each other out.

i would assume they are just checking out other peoples crotch so that they can compare their own wiener to that of the one being looked at. and it is also my belief that all men gay or straight at one time or other wonder what it would be like to have sex with someone of teh same sex.

women do that all the time. i dont know if their eyes linger on any area but women always give another women a once over.

curiosity and insercurity, many str8 guys wont have seen many cocks, so they are curious as to how they fit on the spectrum, they may pertiually chosoe gay guys to 'check out' because it is 'safer' than checkin out a str8 guy, purely for fear of being accused a gay or to avoid being hurt by an insercure homophobic str8 man.
