Well, if you want to visit some wineries, check out Temecula. Head east on the 10, then go south on the 15. It is about a 90 minute drive from Los Angeles.

There is San Antonio Winery in Los Angeles in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood, near Chinatown. Good food, too. That's near the I5 and 10 junction.

Pasadena has some excellent wine shops and wine bars. My favorite is a place called the Heritage Wine Company, on the northwest end of Old Town (near Holly Street). They sell wine, and you can sample tasting flights or drink by the glass. In an alley between Green Street and Colorado Blvd., there's Crepevine. They serve crepes and have a decent selection of wines. There's another wine shop near Madre's Restaurant on Lake Ave., but they have shoddy service. I forget their name. There are two wine shops at Paseo Colorado: Bodega and D'Vine wines. They both have limited selection, but are nice for an evening out relaxing with friends.

On the west side, I'd recommend Primitivo in Venice on Abbot Kinney Blvd. It's a wine and tapas bar. Reasonably priced, good food.

The Broadway Deli on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica has a fantastic wine tasting counter. They are also a full service deli, restaurant and coffee bar. The cheeses and hand made desserts are wonderful. The employees are very informed and super nice.
