i recently left a post about a friend of mine who hasnt contacted me in a couple weeks.lots of people told me i should call him just so i can feel better, well i finally pushed myself to call him and we spoke for a few secs then he told me he would call me back in a few mins.this jerk never called me back and now im even more pissed!its surprising to me that he would do things like this because we just recently got back in contact after several years.the next time we speak im planning on ending the situation completely.does that seem like a good idea?if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.

I've had friends like that, where they have good intentions and at the time they tell you, they're really sincere about returning calls, initiating contact and keeping the promises they make but they don't follow through. And they used to infuriate me. The way I learned to deal with flaky friends like that is to lower my expectations. If you know that whatever plans he makes with you won't happen, he'll be late, he'll disappear and lose contact with you, then you won't be so angry when it happens.

Of course, there's always the option of just dropping this person because you can't depend on him and I've exercised that option when the lowered expectations weren't worth it.

Let it go... Life is too short to worry about the intentions of others. Perhaps he was busy, perhaps not. Maybe he has a full life and no time in it for you. Take the hint...move on.
