I mean some malicious, spiteful tales.

That happened to me in high school once. At the time, I just hid and waited for it to blow over. I don't know if that was the right thing to do or not, but I knew that the people who mattered to me would know that the things being said about me were lies, and that's all I cared about.

Is that you again, Dreaded Ex? I wasn't spreading spiteful tales, I was telling the truth. You know it and I know it.

Been There Done that.
If the subject arises tell the truth. But...
People who take liars at face value, are fools.
There is no point in talking to a fool or argueing with a liar.
Your integrity should speak for itself, and the truth will prevail in the end.
No point making a fool of yourself trying to extinguish it.

Well it did happen and probably is still going on.
I enjoy it though. It's like grabbing the spotlight without toom much efforts. Believe it or not, this is actually how I can find true friends. What are friends, if they are not there when you need them? Meanwhile, I will see if I can spread lies too....let's see who can do better.

I would ignore it. It has happened before and all they want is a reaction...don't give it to them and they stop. My real friends know the truth...those who would want to believe the sordid tales are not worth my effort anyways.

I would track him down, confront him, and have my say. I would then ignore him... I live in a small community. People know who I am and what I stand for. (I would however, feel like kicking him... but I wouldn't). I just got dumped after a huge fight and four years of my life. Live and learn...

I'd like to think that i'd confront them and the rumors, but i'm too chicken to do that so i'd probably spread it around that they sucked in bed and had a small unit.

if it were me..i wouldn't do anything but hope that everyone considers the source.......i would know its all lies and they should know that the ex is out to hurt one so telling tales is childish,,disrespectful and mean and why lower myself down to his level.....true friends would know the truth.

Tit for Tat... do the same. If they are really bad (damaging) to your reputation, good name, etc. AND they are completely untrue...then scare his/her sorry azz with the threat of a Deformation of Character suite. If it continues contact a lawyer and make him/her pay.
