Start by taking notes to decide what you want to say. when you have a basic outline, sit down and type

I had a book published called "The Cowboy Years," basically a memoir of my early years in Texas. I began by writing it for my children but friends insisted it was better than just loose-leaf material and I should try and publish it. I have had some magazine articles published as well. I start by writing, I write SOMETHING every single day just to be writing. One such writing was a conversation between a son and his father that I felt had promise and took it from there . I think it will be my next book but this one is fiction. Don't be discouraged if publishers turn you down, keep trying. I reccomend buying a copy of Writers Market availabale in most book stores. It tells you what publishers are interested in and what they are not, provides addresses and contact names and lots of information. It will help you organize a publishing plan. Just write! If you are any good you'll eventually find a publisher.

Write every day. Have an idea on what your book is going to be about. Going to a writing class might help with the mechanics of writing. Once your book is finished take it to an editor then a publisher if you want to get it published.
Just remember that practically no one gets their book published by the first person they go to. J.K. Rowling had to go to numerous different publishers for someone to finally want to publish her book.

Your first book: Start writing.

If you're established, it's easier to approach a publisher with your idea but if you're new, you should be writing. Give the publishers your finished manuscript and maybe someone will publish you. If not, you can self-publish with GAP or something.

to start a good book, like starting anything creative all you need is a good idea...

the rest works itself out generally...

before you start writing, decide and commit to what you want to write, and before you start writing work a basic 'storyline' out so you know how to progress with the plot in a good flowing way.

I am also trying to write a book about fantasy and I guess after you finish writing it, you copywright it and submit it to agencies and they will either pick it to publish it or not. If they don't just keep sending it to different publishing companies.

First you need to have the manuscript written and then you have to send it to publishing companies to see if they want to publish your book that is if they like your book. Good luck.
