Depends on what you're looking for. Soulseek is best for hard-to-find (especially foreign) music. Mininova.org/uTorrent is best for downloading easy-to-find files like games and movies quickly. eMule is best for downloading hard-to-find stuff slowly.

go to www.utorrent.com get utorrent.
then go to http://thepiratebay.org/ or http://www.torrentspy.com/latest.asp and find something you want.
when you click download on the site, and OPEN the file with utorrent. It will begin downloading.
Unlike other file sharing methods, torrents work that you are always sharing the pieces you do have, for pieces you don't.
Like a group of friends trading baseball cards, you give out what you have and take whatever piece they have, until you all have the complete download. It's very fast and there are less problems with people not sharing the files.

Go to www.download.com and download one of the many free file sharing programs. I use limewire it is good for music and some programs, not really that great for movies. But simple to use.

You can try torrent programmes like bitorrent, azeurus, bitcomet. They are much more efficient for the sharing of large files than Limewire.
