Most of the bands i listen to these days are mostly unkown (which is cool because few people know them and it's bad because it's hell finding their albums...)(note that to me, in South Africa, these bands ARE underground, they might be mainstream in your part of the world, i dunno)
Sunna
Amen
Fireflight
Evans Blue
Kidney Thieves
Matchbook Romance (not really underground, but not really world-famous either)
Dry Kill Logic
The Agony Scene
Flyleaf
In This Moment
Scum
The Damned (the new line-up featuring Casey Chaos)
The Horrorpops
You can also search for these South African bands on google and MySpace (they are all awesome and I guarantee you'll be the only one with their songs:
Slashdogs
Martin Rocka and the Sick Shop
The Narrow
Perez (they aren't together anymore, but they were brilliant)
Springbok Nude Girls
Pestroy
Fokofpolisiekar
Death Valley Blues Band
Misled
Agro (you'll have a hard time finding them, but it will be worth it)
That's about all i can think of at this moment really.

If you like progressive metal/rock, then check out Sympny X, Cellador, Tribuzy, Firewind, Altaria, Vision Divine, Rhapsody, Luca Turilli, Gamma Ray, Edguy...I think thats good enough. More popular outside of the United States. They seem pretty unknown to probably 99.9% of people around me and these are awesome bands. Oh one more, Virtuocity! Great guitarist!

i like the story approximately while Metallica and weapons 'N' roses have been preserving a teach in Toronto, Canada and between the pyrotechnic bombs blew 1800 degress of flame onto James Hettfield's arm. while James went to the wellbeing center, not wanting to be outdone, Axl Rose of G'N'R threw the mic down and cancelled the set. Which inturn started a revolt for 4 hours. people pushing over cop vehicles, ludding, and so forth. yet sorry to here approximately your day guy. sounds prefer to me your from Britain, pointing out the conflict and calling people bloks, and you reside in Brixton. My day wasn't that stable the two might desire to be on the sea coast yet I had a physician's appointment so i could not circulate to the sea coast for spring ruin. yet i wish you have a extra suitable day day after today.

It is real hard to be a fan of anything that no one has ever heard of, isn't it? I love Snow Patrol and Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Neither of them are startling popular though Snow Patrol is getting a lot of play. Especially "Chasing Cars".
