fake.. more options.. can be used often... nonflammable.. and it doesn't kill a real tree.
you know what irks me? seeing vegans.. come back in their voltswagons with a real tree strapped to the top.

I've never had a real tree in my life and I don't think I'll ever want one. My parents got their first real tree the year of my older brother's first Christmas. Unfortunately, he was allergic. So the summer after that, while my dad was on a business trip to Germany, he found a nice fake that was inexpensive. That was the family tree until about 3 or 4 years ago. My brother and I would always fight over who got to put the tree together, particularly who got to put the top of the tree on. I'll never forget my childhood years of having munchies instead of dinner, in the living room, decorating the tree while a Christmas movie played in the background. It's the tradition of using the same tree year after year that I love. For that reason, I'll always stick with an artificial tree. I'll save the real greenery to the wreath.

Fake. When I was younger and living with my brother and sisters, we'd go out together, usually on Christmas Eve, buy a tree, put it up, and decorate it.
But I'm much older now, and we live in separate households. It's too much for me to do all that now. The last real tree I bought, years ago, didn't get decorated until Dec 27. Now I have a two-foot artificial tree which can go on the piano or the coffee table.
Last year, I got a two-foot "Charlie Brown" real tree--a tall branch stuck in a slice of stump--and decorated that with small ornaments. I might do that again, or decorate my fake two-footer again.

When i was growing up we would swap back and forth. Some years we'd bring down the fake one. And other years my dad would go in the woods to get a real one. Then they became available in our city so we had a real one for 15 years. Now the fake ones look so real and like u say don't cause a mess we opted to get a fake one for this year and love it. No looking after, no needles on the floor, no watering. I'd say get a fake one .

I use fake. Growing up we used real and there is just something about going out and chopping your own tree (I am only 30 and we did this).
But now, I use fake bc I have 3 cats a dog. If I got real, they would be more apt to climb up in it and chew on it, that sorta thing.
Plus my son is asthmatic and the real tree in the house would irritate him.

I prefer fake ones. Even if you get a really expensive fake tree it pays for itself in a couple of years. Where I live you can't get a decent tree for under 80 bucks. We went with a fake one. We love it! Like you said no needles to worry about. No worrying about getting it to your house either.

I prefer real trees because of the fragrance. The needles on the carpet aren't so important to me. I do wish people wouldn't leave a Christmas tree -- sometimes with decorations still hanging on -- at the curb to be picked up as trash after Christmas. They can -- and should be -- recycled. Merry Christmas to you.

LOVE the smell and feel and look of a real tree.
But I choose artificial. Because it's more cost effective. And, like you, don't like the idea of killing a tree.

I'm all for real trees for 1 reasons...
i know you have the bloody agro of dragging the thing in, and then the horrid experience of getting the thing to stand straight...
but with a real tree you get the smell, and that smell to me always reminds me of christmas...
maybe i'm just sentimental like that.

Fake. It lasts longer and saves us money. Plus, when we're ready to decorate next year, we already have a tree.
Oh, and no pine needles in the carpet, no watering, and no disposing of it after x-mas.
