If you would have asked me before the Wii came out I would have said Ocarina of Time hands down, but after playing Twilight Princess for a few weeks now....I think a new ultimate has emerged.

The backbone of the series are the first two games on NES, Legend of Zelda and Adventure of Link - they started the entire legend, and while they were also the first ones I played (as a young gamer in 1987) they are still in my top 5 zelda games, behind TP and OOT.

I'm gonna go gray, and say Link's Awakening. Everything in that game was exceedingly well put together, and it's always fun to go back and play every once in a while. The characters are great, the concept is interesting, and the final boss is the best final boss there is in a Zelda game...which means ever. The dungeons are constructed well, and I always want to do more in the game.

In short, it hooked me on Zelda, and nothing that has come after has taken me off of the hook--it's all forced me deeper, but LA is where it all started, and I consider it a high achievement of gaming.

This starts with the release of the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, 19 years ago and two years after its launch in Japan. This marked the beginnings of all Nintendo videogame products, not just Zelda. Two years after that in 1987, we saw the now celebrated release of the first title in the Zelda series, The Legend of Zelda, unveiling the top down viewpoint.

* The Legend of Zelda
* The Adventure of Link
* A Link to the Past
* Link's Awakening
* Ocarina of Time
* Link's Awakening DX
* Majora's Mask
* Oracle Series
* ALttP / Four Swords
* OoT Master Quest
* The Wind Waker
* Collector's Edition
* FS Adventures
* Classic Series
* The Minish Cap
* Twilight Princess
* Phantom Hourglass

the new Wii game looks really good

Twilight Princess. This game had an excellent story, one that I definitely preferred to that of Ocarina of Time. Midna is my favourite Zelda character, besides Link. The dungeons were huge. I loved the music, and the realistic art style. I also really liked the gameplay (on the Gamecube, anyway). Twilight Princess is also the Zelda game that took me the longest to complete, but I never got bored with it.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been touted as the best Zelda game to date (of course, this was before Twilight Princess).

However, I think that Majora's Mask is the best installment of the Zelda series. It expanded on the control system of Ocarina of Time, as well as added a unique feel to the series. Plus, the use of time mechanics was brilliant.

id say legend of zelda:the adventures of link for the side scrolling....

but there are three other stepping stones...

a link to the past for its gameplay and mast amount of items

ocarina of time for its first look at a true zelda story and graphics...

and twilight princess because of the hands on stuff you have to do throughout the dungeons....

oh yeah, im listening to zelda music too...lol
