My first child had to be induced resulting in a 38 hour labor with a 3 hour pushing time- She was sunny side up (wrong way) and gave me horrible back pain- every contraction poped my back, and when it was over it poped back into place. Remember this happened every 2-3 mins, it sucked. But was worth having a vaginal birth-
My second one my water broke in the middle of the night at home, but contractions did not increase after 12 hours so the docs gave me medicine to make them stronger. also two weeks before my water broke I felt my son turn 180 deg in my stomache and the doctor thought it might have wrapped the umbilical cord around his neck- after 36 hours of labor his heart beat started declining every contraction so I ended up getting a c-section - the cord was around his neck.

The first one was short, simple and quick. I was in labor like three hours. No pain meds, and it took like 20 mins of pushing to come out (I wasn't trying as hard as I was supposed to b/c I feared pooping, lol). The recovery was fast, and I was up and fine in like three days. The second one I was miserable, labor was 26 hours, the doctor threatened me with c-section. I pushed two times and that was it. The recovery was worse (I also had a bilateral tubal ligation done in the hospital). I couldn't even walk for like a week from the post partium pains. I was in tears from the pains for three days til I could get pain medicine. I also suffered bad post partium both times, it seemed worse the second time because I felt I was neglecting the older child. But I wasn't. But on what was the same. The came out looking identical. Except one is a boy and the other a girl. Same hair color, eye color, liked to be held the same way, ate the same patterns, in pics of them in diapers at the same age they look so much the same that you have to turn the pic over to see which is which. The little one acts just the bugger one in her stages. (IE 12 months, they both climbed everything, 9 months they both picked up the pretty baby routine.) Good luck

My first labor was about 30 hours long, my second was about 3 1/2 hours long. The only thing that was close to the same was it took four pushes to get the first one out, and three to get the second one out. The first one was so exhausting, the second was fast and furious. I would totally want the second one again. I would have to say that the afterpains were worse after the second, especially with nursing, but tylenol relieved it.

I have to agree with all of the others, my after birth pains were worse with the second that the first (no reason to forgo a second child though).
Both of mine were postterm and had to be induced. I felt contractions with the second because I was more familiar with hhem after having my first. Both were big baies (9lbs 70z and 10 lbs 5.4 oz respectively) Both were girls. Both epidurals but (the first I didn't even feel, the second was a botched job and I'm still having pains). My body recovery was quicker with the second (muscle memory is a beautiful thing).

The only different thing was those awful after birth pains that no one told me about, I really thought I had another baby inside of me trying to come out.
