i would go buy a basket, or a decorative box. and i would make or buy a card that said how special he is to you and how you think he should be treated this holiday season.... make him some little gift certificates of things that you and him can do together... for example: make an ice skate out of construction paper and write on the back that this is good for a night on ice with me, or draw a movie ticket stub and write on the back "sit back, relax, and enjoy the show on me!", and include some things that go along with the event you choose... if you choose ice skating include some hot chocolate and some marshmallows to enjoy after yall go ice skating, for the movies put some pop corn and candy in the basket. umm you can also like others have said bake him some things if youre handy in the kitchen! and if all thats too dramatic for your friendship level, just make a card and something generic like cologn, a tie, or a video game. anyways... good luck and have fun!!

Well, I had this problem a few years ago... you didn't say how old he is, my friend was over 21 and this is what I made: Whiskey Truffles! He loved them (and they were really easy to make) of course you could always make regular truffles too.

Here is how to make them:
Take a small pot and a heat proof bowl that fit over the pot. fill the pot with plenty of water - but not to the point that it touches the bowl. This is a simple double boiler and keeps the chocolate from burning (which is really easy). Turn the stove on medium, let the water simmer, and toss in a bunch of chocolate chips. Let them melt while you stir them - a rubber spatula works best. Add some cream, a little at a time, until it is nice and smooth - but not to liquidy. Add a little vanilla. Add in whatever you want - keep an eye on the liquids. Ideas would be orange peels, nuts, cherries, candies, etc. After everything is combined than take the bowl of the water and let it cool for a few hours in the fridge. Then just grab a spoon and get your hands dirty rolling up balls of chocolate. you can leave them like that or roll them in stuff like nuts, coconut, etc. Enjoy!

As the old saying goes, "The best way to a man's heart is his stomach!" Or something like that. Try baking biscotti's, bread, cookies or if he has a favorite food or desert make that.

Since he is just you're friend than you know his personality very well, and if he's a music buff, make him a burned cd of all of his favorite songs. Or if he's the type of guy that likes beer, pick up his favorite and some beer snacks to go with it. (I've done this for a few beer lovers and they got a kick out of it and thought it was cool.) I put the beers in a round tin bucket that you can put ice in and put a bow on it. It could be your beer basket. (no pun intended)

If he's into tools and is handy, again going back to the cookies idea, make them into the shapes of tools and decorate them with icing.

Keep it simple, keep it manly, most importantly make it creative and fun! As the gift giving season should be.

He probably doesn't have a lot of XMAS decorations. Try making him a wreath with little sports things added to it and deliver it with some homemade goodies like cookies and candy. It doesn't have to be huge and it will show that you care w/o being overtly personal.

Cookies, I have two simple recipes that I don't mind giving you, or something fairly easy like getting a boxed mix of banana-nut bread (if you have a flour shifter you can sprinkle powdered sugar on it and get some color plastic wrap like saran wrap and put a bow on it) is always a holiday favorite. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

baked goods, cookies, gingerbread, brownies. Don't go with fruit cake. Anything but fruit cake. But baked goods take time, attention and are usually packed with love. Then you can head over to a cheapy store 99cents plus type stores and get a basket. Cover the entire basket (with the good inside) with saran wrap. Use a blow dryer (on low) to make the plastic tighten on to the basket. Then wrap in gift wrap.

I agree with everyone who said food. Nothing beats cookies and/ or sausages and cheese and crackers nicely arranged in a igft basket for the guy who loves to snack.

Men DO love food. Cookies are a good idea. Or put together a gift basket with cheese, crackers, summer sausage, etc. etc.

Guys love food. Bake him a pumpkin bread or zuchinni bread. There is also some really easy microwave fudge recipes that you won't need a candy thermometer for.
