PLAIN Robitussin is safe for pregnancy. You can also opt for old fashioned treatments if the robitussin isn't doing much. I'm pregnant and had a cold a few weeks ago, so you know just the regular things like lots of fluid and rest. I like to make a lemon tea and sweeten it with honey. It is soothing and helps. Even a warm soak in a bath! Hope you feel better!!

There are medications that Dr's prescribe for sleeping. They do carry some risk but the Dr will always take care of the mother first. If the benefits outweigh the potential risks, they will give the mother the medicine. Not sleeping is unhealthy too. I have taken Tylenol Pm before. It is perfectly safe to take occasionally. (it is only Tylenol and Benadryl..both are safe to take while pregnant) You say that you wouldn't take anything no matter how much trouble you have, but you say that bc I am assuming you have had no real trouble sleeping or been in a lot of pain while pregnant. I agree with you that no one should take anything that isn't necessary but try not sleeping for 3 days straight and then say you wouldn't. Or break your leg in a car accident while you are pregnant. There are safe medications to take while pregnant if taken correctly and only when truly needed.

Yes, you can take PLAIN tussin. NONE with letters after the name. its only a guesfenlsdkjfsdifp something or other. It helps breaks up mucus so you can cough more effectively.
It has been linked to hernias in newborns though. But its not a completed study.
Dont EVER EVER EVER take a cough supressant, or decongestant. Those have been linked to defects in the baby. All those were removed from the safe medication list a few years ago. Many women for whatever reason will still try to convince you to take sudafed or tylenol cold. Dont do it.

Most of the time the medication will read "Do not use this product if you are pregnant or nursing" if it just says consult your physician before using, then it is probably ok to use. But you should call and check with your doctor. I don't know of any cough meds that aren't ok for pregnant women, but I could be wrong, checking with your doc is the best way to go

Just to be on the safe side, as were all different call your Doctor and double check. For now make a cup of tea and put lemon and honey in it. Good luck and get better soon, your going to need all the energy you have in 8 weeks.

Personally I wouldn't take anything. I suffered through colds and aches without anything. It's best for the baby. But if you take anything go with what your doctor suggests. Call his office. If you can't speak with him directly his nurse should be able to help you.
