my friend was dating this guy online for over a year. they seemed pretty close and everything. hes obsessed with her. he told me that if she found a guy around her, he'd commit suicide. he's very jealous. recently, he told my friend that he found this girl near him and hes been seeing her. he told me that when he holds this girl, he pretends its my friend. i believed this for awhile, but now hes telling my friend that he loves his new girlfriend. he also says he loves my friend but he cant be with her. i can see why hed want a real life girlfriend, but i can also see why my friend is hurt. should my friend stay friends with him or forget about him?

This guys sounds like he's a few fries short of a happy meal. (make that about a whole thing of fries, on second thought)
If I were her I would ditch him like immedietaly! Then walk my happy butt down to the court house and get a restraining order. He sounds a little psycho!!

NOW do you understand why Internet Dating is a waste of time? People have NO IDEA with whom they are dealing when they converse over their "Instant Messenger"....Anyone that needs to "date" via an Internet connection is AUTOMATICALLY flawed in some major way. There are PLENTY of very nice REAL boys out there who aren't cyber stalkers.

ONLINE boyfriend.. ONLINE.. Need I say more? If it's been said once, it's been said a thousand times.. a strictly online 'relationship' does NOT work.. She should find an actually person that she can interact with.. the relationship will be much more pleasing/satisfying.

From what I can tell, this online dating stuff mostly leads to heartache. Your friend is lucky she has you as a support. Not only should she drop this guy, she should disconnect her internet service for six months, as a reminder to not do this again.

Long distance relationships rarely work.

Just keep as friend, keep in touch - and live your life openly to new things and people.

Forget him! He has major issues. She can do better (even if only online). Tell her to ditch the loser.
