I have no animosity, for instance, to African Americans because of their race (color of skin, type of hair, features, etc) but I think much of the current music, dress, use of language, stlye, attitudes toward having children primiscuosly, education, crime and over focus on sports and entertainment careers associated with a very prominent segement of black society is toxic to the country and mostly to themselves. If, as a culture, or race, they hired a public realtions firm to give them a negative image it couldn't do a worse job than they do themselves.
Like attracts like. When you determine who has the most success in our society, success being the greatest freedom of choice as to jobs, housing, associates, schools, entertainment, and all material things..a smart, aware person would try to pattern thier mannerisms, activites, dress, conversations, speech and attitudes after the most successful (freedoms) people in society..in order to gain acceptance by them and some patronage.

Well said, It's definitely not the color of skin, it's the unusual priorities they have.

No, I think there's a difference between RACE & CULTURE. Race has nothing to do with anything. The color of your skin, or shape of your eyes, has nothing to do with what's inside your head or how you behave, how smart you are, or what your belief systems are!
However, it's absurd to say that culture doesn't exist. It has a huge impact on how an indivigual thinks & behaves. Look at like Mexico & say... Singapore. You can't deny how different these places are, due to the CULTURE. Singapore is a place where a huge amount of importance is put on career & education. They have a zero population growth because most people in their 20's are so focused on education and getting their career going. The government has these weekend getaways they throw for young adults so that boys & girls can meet each other! In mexico, it's all about getting married young and starting to pop out kids. This is a cultural thing to put so much focus on family. (Of course, this doesnt mean that an indivigual from either place won't behave in any manner they want.)
Doesn't this seem to be the key to why Mexico is poor & dirty and filled with slums, and nothing works, and it's totally corrupt and nothing ever happens on time, and Singapore is insanely clean & wealthy & industrailized? You cannot even argue this isn't about CULTURE.
All in all, however, I bet Mexico is a lot more fun!

You are a racist, and you say it in your own question: "...much of the current music, dress, use of language, stlye, attitudes toward having children primiscuosly, education, crime and over focus on sports and entertainment careers associated with a very prominent segement of black society..." it's people like YOU who are stupid enough to make generalizations about people like that. African Americans wouldn't have to deal with those things be "associated" with them if people who think like you were not aroung.

certain! The media is racist. the employer that looks maximum blatant about their racist steroetypes as we talk, is Kentucky Fried hen. have you ever suggested that for one, they play their commercials of the black kinfolk and then follow it up with a similar commercial with white human beings, yet look on the diffrences; The black kinfolk is sitting on the table, in a smallish residence placing, with the table 1/2 in and 1/2 out of the kitchen, and they are not chatting with one yet another because they have a t.v in the front of the table! Then commercial 2, of the white kinfolk, is sitting around the table, no television in sight and the son has a pal over and they are giggling and joking, and interacting!!!! Their radio commercials are not any diverse; black kinfolk unmarried mom this time, raising sons! Like those are the in elementary words 2 techniques lets be portrayed. Like if we ensue to have a father interior the residing house, we nonetheless are to busy gazing our t'v's and by no skill in contact ion what happpened that day interior our loved ones lives! Oh certain certainly, the media is racist, and absolutely everyone who questions it favor in elementary words pay slightly more advantageous interest.

That doesn't necessarily make you racist. Maybe a little predjudice though. There are many black people who do not fit into those stereotypes you speak of. That is actually just a fraction of blacks. But, you don't really hear about the more positive people in the media. I think people need to look at the bigger picture and see what it is that causes some of these people to be the way they are. Instead of immediately looking at them like they are some sort of burden on society. Then, maybe things will start to change.

Disliking promiscuity, lack of education, emphasis on sports and entertainment careers, and inappropriate dress or language isn't racist. However, assuming that all African Americans like this sort of thing just because you see it on hip-hop videos is.

What you mistakenly identify as African-American culture is more appropriately associated with hip-hop culture, which is predominated by, but not exclusive to, blacks. There are white people who are promiscuous and uneducated, who idealize careers as an entertainer or athlete, and who dress inappropriately and use foul language, too.

That is racism because you are generalizing the charecteristics of people and has a pre-conditioned behaviour towards people with certain charecteristics. These chareceterists are not an indication that an individual is of your liking or has a culture.

It is okay if I dislike people who talk loud. But it will be racism if I associate red-lips with loud talking and start to dislike people with red-lips (before I check whether the particular person talks loud or not)

It looks like the only person who is confused is you. It seems like YOU view African-American culture like that, probably due to the Television you watch (MTV? ESPN? ). By trying to group people and label them, you are already making a mistake of logic. I understand what "you're trying to say" , but you just have to remember that it doesn't matter how things look. In the end, the only thing that matters when it come to people is how they are when you meet them..are they nice and accepting or stuck-up and insulting? this is the reason why i like to dress in a pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt...no one Pre-judges me to be ANY CERTAIN way. When they meet me, i let my heart and personality tell them who I am.

If I said that I had no animosity toward white people but I dislike the way they act, dress, treat black people, dye their hair black and worship satan, I'm I being racist or am I making a sweeping generalization?

You assume that everyone wants to be accepted by the people you deem successful. If you specifically target hip-hop culture as the object of your dislike, it's not racist, it's discriminatory. There are plenty of people from various cultures embracing the hip-hop culture. It is, however, perfectly within your rights to discriminate in personal matters. We all reject certain foods, music, surroundings, entertainment options, etc. that we find distasteful, displeasing, and unattractive.

Yes, because you are generalizing about an entire ethnic group. Black people are not the only culture or group with individuals who behave the way that you have described. Your statement makes the assumption that all black people are like that, which is not true. Why not just say that you don't like anyone who acts like that?
