I'd be happy to receive anything if I was you.
Don't ask your boss. That is tacky, and shows ingratitude.
He's not obligated to explain a bonus. Actually, he's not obligated to give you one at all. If it's a bonus cut across the board, then it's business-- and not a personal comment on how you performed.
If you performed badly this year, you wouldn't have gotten any bonus.

As a business owner it was nice to be able to even give employees a bonus. I would not take it personally. But your boss really does not owe you any explanation...but it would be good of him to say as many people do depend (and should not) on their bonus check. Average sales for a year is fine...but think were there rising costs? Insurance increases, ect.? Personally all the insurance costs medical and others (which we payed employee medical) was our main reason when we had to cut their bonus check some. I'm sure you all are doing fine jobs!! Merry Christmas!!

i don't think of a suited thank you notice is warranted. The bonus replaced into not particular to you. i'm unsure the form you talk which include your boss, yet a rapid casual thank you in an email could suffice. This additionally relies upon on the gender of your boss as a male I hardly examine taking part in cards different than a rapid look, my spouse on the different hand consistently sends thank you taking part in cards and expects to acquire them. She is extremely placed out if she does not acquire a card, and that i might desire to careless.

If you've been with the company in that position for this long, you should have a good enough rapport with the boss to ask about it.
There may be expenses or problems in the background you're not privy to.
Frankly, I'd take it (although I'm sure I'd be disappointed too), and let it go.

Politely ask your boss why, then graciously thank your boss for your bonus. Your boss probably will give some lame excuse, but still thank your boss for bonus.Since other bonuses were cut also, it is not you personally. Most places do not give bonuses so be thankful for what you get and never count on one.

Never count on it. If you expect nothing and get something you always come out on top.
I had that happen to me once and I felt ripped off. Its the companies performance that was subpar, not yours.
Merry Christmas!

Sounds very depressant. But if I was you I would ask a question or two in the privacy of his office. In order for you to feel good working there you have to feel comfortable and if you are feeling this way, you will not work at your best~ Go now and ask?

Ask your boss. You'll get some lame-o explanation. Then go to the bar on friday afternoon with your co-workers and rag on the bosses. Resist the urge to kick your dog and fight with wife. Continue on with your life.
