Is your question how to perform the backup or how to restore to the original condition (or both?)

You can use the Windows Backup utility to perform the backup. (Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Backup and follow the prompts.) Be prepared to use a lot of CDs though - each CD holds about 650-700MB of data but your system can have much, much more than that.

Once you get the entire system backed up, you can choose to restore just a part of it or the entire disk. This again can be done using the same program above, just select the restore option.

With that being said, you may be better off getting a 3rd part backup software. They often perform better and have better compression than that found in the version that comes with Windows.
