I know it's totally boring, but you're always safe with an umbrella.

Candy is always a safe one to start with. Try a word search book and include a couple of pencils with it. Buy a gift card to a local mall in your area and then let the person that gets it do their own shopping. Even try a gift card to a restaurant. Hope some of these ideas might work for you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. (Good Luck)

I don't understand why you would dismiss the one thing that could be appropriate for any gender and any age group. And what's the point of a gift exchange if you don't at least get some idea of for whom you are purchasing a gift. If nobody narrowed down the group for me, I'd stick with something neutral... like a gift card. Or, you could try finding one of those t-shirts that says "they made me participate in this gift exchange thing, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"

Gift Card is perfect for all of those reasons. Give one from a Dept. Store that has areas that would interest all of them. Simple like Wal-Mart, Targets. Since it's a gift exchange it isn't as if the gifts should be personal. Unless you know specifically who you are giving it to then you haven't any way of knowing their likes or dislikes.

something nice would be like a foot massage kind of thing or a day at the spa kind of thing. Cookie or muffin baskets are nice and are usually unisex kind of gifts, or you can always buy 2 gifts and when you know who it's for you can decide which gift to give.

A really nice scarf. No really, I got one, one year and it lasted until my niece stole it. Maybe a scarf and hat, gloves too would be nice.
