You need the Win2000 Disk. Put in the Drive and it walk you through. You can do an Upgrade or Full Install. Also, with a full install you have two options, Format the Hard Drive and do a Full install. OR, do not format and it make a Duel Boot system. What this is, it give you the option to use 98 or 2000 on startup. I not know if it important to have a duel boot, but, I did this as I just wanted to keep the 98. Heck, I still have one computer with Windows 3.11.
Also, if you do a full install and have any Video problems or whatever you may need new drivers from Compaq support. So, you may want to check there for Downloads and have some on a Disk. Your video will work, it, just may work better with a better driver. My Ethernet Card did not work on mine and I installed the Driver and now it good to go. This was on a Home Built Desktop I have. I use a IBM Laptop for Inet most times.

Windows 2000 is no longer an upgrade, it would be a downgrade. An upgrade would be Windows XP.
