well, you should give a gift for him/her only if you are invited 2 their party or so0mething but i would give something that they might like e.g. for a male maybe a watch or a gift set which consists of perfumes and after shaves or even a pen. and for a female maybe a box of chocolates or perfumes, or jewlerry.

Depends on how much you know him/her, if you don't know him/her at all, then I wouldn't suggest giving a big gift.
Try finding a gift that suits their hobby, or interests.
