my best friend is taking credit for my idea.

How good of an idea? How good of a best friend? How much credit is taken? You should probably talk to them about it before you get into a bf. That was just stupid and pointless for a friend to do that. It just shows how a fake that person is and how much face they want, sorry to offend you about your friend. Just talk to them before you get into an arguement or regret the credit you weren't taken for that was your idea.

It was a stupid thing for your friend to do, but it's important to try to understand what their reason might have been, too. If they felt pressured to come up with something, or just felt like they weren't good enough, then they may have thought of your idea, knew you were smart and would have plenty more, and took that opportunity to make themselves feel smarter for once.

If you have a good friendship, don't let one screw-up ruin it. Talk to your friend, tell them it hurt you a little that they did it without asking you if it was OK first, but explain that you understand that they did what they thought was best. It could make your friendship stronger in the end.

With a best friend like that you don't need any enemies.

I'd speak up and tell them this was not his or her opinion.
