I've lived in Florida for 7 years, I'm tired of the same stuff all the time. Same people, same places, I just want out! My husband is getting out of the Air Force in April, and we will be free! I want to move some place beautiful. We deserve it. Our little girl is 1 and we want her to grow up in an exciting place... which isn't here. Any advice? Any Ideas?

You know, excitement happens when you go out and look for it -- and it can even be exciting and a wonderful experience to grow up in a rural town (which is where I retired to as a Long-Term Single Parent after I RETIRED from the Military myself)!

Other than that -- have you really given a thought to where you want to go -- the schools and services available, and a SAFE place to raise your little girl over her school years? I can assure you that you need to check out these questions (including AFFORDABILITY of living in a specific area) BEFORE you move to a place that you may "Think" is exciting.

After being stationed all around the world -- where did I choose to retire to from Active Duty? Well ... I chose ... FLORIDA -- the rural town where I settled had what I wanted for raising my two Disabled Children to Adulthood (and it so happens I live approximately 45 minutes from the Post) -- a reasonable cost of living, good open spaces, good schooling, and most importantly -- a SAFE place to live and RAISE them to independent adulthood.

Hello!! I am 21 years old... 8 months pregnant.... engaged.... and back in April we wanted the same thing. We were living in the Pensacola area but it is what I call a "wannabe town". So... We decided to just up and move south. We are now living in Broward county and loving it!! There's always something to do here and everything is almost always open. The weather is always nice and I have yet seen a day when there's not someone at the beach. Anyway... I found it slightly funny that your story seemed so familiar to me and had to write. I am new to this thing so I hope I gave you the answer/suggestion/reply you were looking for :)
