therefore, we want to express the equation as x = ???
we'll pretend we are solving the equation, and looking x = ?, since we "know" what y is (the value of y is irrelevant in this problem)

y = (2+5x)/(2+3x) /*(2+3x) (to get rid of the ratios)
y(2+3x) = 2+5x

now get rid of the brackets
2y + 3xy = 2 + 5x

put all unknowns on the left
2y + 3xy - 5x = 2 (transfer y on the right)
3xy - 5x = 2 - 2y

extract x
x(3y -5) = 2-2y /: (3y-5)
x = (2-2y)/(3y-5)
