A friend of mine (owner of a Beauty Salon) has had an employee, who gave her clients her phone numbers, so that they would get thier hair done at her new hair salon that she was going to open.

it is called soliciting and you are not suppose to do it but i dont know what kind of punishment there is for it.

This is unethical behavior but it's not illegal unless she signed a contract with a non-compete or confidentiality clause. Generally speaking, businesses have no right to protection from competition.

In the medical field patient confidentiality laws would make this illegal with or without a contract.

every one dose it but if this person was still working for the owner the that in a sense is theft [ if i leave a company and give every one my new business # then it`s OK but when i work for some one Else then that can go to court]
