If it is in quarantine than it should no longer be able to harm your computer. If you are running norton than you should be able to click the virus in quarantine and you internet browser will take you to norton's website where it should tell you how to get rid of this virus. Alot of times the best solution is to put your computer into safe mode and run the antivirus program. The reason for this is because most of the viruses run in the background and you cannot delete a program while it is running. When you put a computer into safemode it only loads what windows needs to run and nothing else so the virus should not be running. If you can run the antivirus then and the virus is removable it will allow you to remove it in safe mode. To get into safe mode on your computer you will need to press the F8 key while the computer is booting. Most of the time it will be right after the POST screen which is the initial screen when the computer is booting. You should try both of these and you should be able to resolve the issue.

Clean out your quarantine periodically. I clean mine once a quarter. No reason to keep malicious stuff around.
The reason we have quarantine is in case of the virus scanner detecting a false positive. Stuff goes into quarantine so that if it turns out NOT to be a virus and removing it causes problems for your system, you can put it back. If it's in quarantine and everything is fine for a month or so, just delete it from quarantine.

If after the file was quarantined your computer is still running fine, you can (and should) delete it. Quarantine is just a "safety measure" to be sure you do not delete something critical. If the PC works without it, get rid of it.

The only reason the quarantine it first is in case they make a mistake and kill one of the applications that you want.
Some applications like Kazaa come with builtin Spyware but some users are willing to live with the bad to get the good. In that case you can recover it from quarantine and Kazaa will still work.
But if it quarantines something and all your stuff still works after a while it's generally safe to delete it.

After a virus is quarantined, it can no longer harm your computer.
I always delete all quarantined files, because they are useless and take up hard drive space.

you leave the program in quarantine to see if it fixes the problem you are having with your computer if it makes another program you need not work then you restore it. Quarantine is like uninstalling a program with the option to reinstall if it does not fix your problem or if it creates other problems.

It could be a "false positive". Go out to one of the free scanning sites of a brand other than your software (use McAfee if you have Norton, Norton if you have McAfee) and let them scan your machine for the virus and see what results you get.
