this is quite...well, interesting...hmmm, id say that in "popularity", the best positions are: quarterback, running back, and wide recievers(tight ends included), and defensive backs, line backers...
quarterbacks r the "leaders" of teh offense...they get the play from teh offensive coaching; to say what plays to run...it can be either a run play, a pass play...whatever
running backs are the ones who rush the ball, they can also be blockers when need and recievers
wide recievers are the ones who run up field, run slants, curls; theyre the ones who u see in the in zone most of the time...
thats on the offensive side...defenensive side:
line backers...theyre the 3 guys in the middle of the defense...they tackle, sack the qbs, and they can also get interceptions....
defensive ends bring pressure to the qb, they also get a lot of sacks and create incomplete passes....
then theres the safties, and borner backs:
the corners mostly cover the wide recievers; to break up the passes, and hopefully create turn overs by getting interceptions...
safties can tackle teh reciever going downfield, kinda the same thing that the corners do...
i hope this helps...im only going off what i know, which is not a lot, lol...
