Black in Queens NY are calling for a boycott of all white-owned businesses due to the murderous actions of one overzealous NY cop. Some have been interviewed on TV, claiming that the Whites are trying to kill them. This action is obviously acceptable even though it is blatant racism.

Statistically, black-on-black violence far supercedes anything the NY cops can dish up, and for the most part, White New Yorkers go about their business without doing any harm to the Black communities. Why do White businesspeople need to be punished for the action of one crazy cop? RACISM!

On a less drastic scale, in the movies and on TV, many Black celebrities have made fun of the Whites. But these same people (and millions more) would be in an uproar if the insults went the other way. Just look at the Michael Richards incident. Black hecklers shouted out ugly racial comments, but when Richards blew his stack and returned the ugliness, he got himself in trouble.

I'm not defending what's going on in NY, but you can hardly claim that what goes on in NY is representative of what "blacks" are doing in this country. NY politics is a lot more divisive than in most other places in the country. NY has always had incendiary racial and ethnic politics and not just between blacks and whites.

And if you're talking about the police killing, there were four cops who opened fire, not just one.

And if you want to see a white person making racially charged comments about blacks without people getting upset, try watching Bill Mahr's show sometimes. Most people understand the difference between satire (meant to make a point) and slurs. Apparently you don't.

As for the Richards incident, I saw the tape and he was not responding to any racial ugliness when he lost it. Richards got annoyed because some people were talking during his act. When he challenged them, one guy said "my friend doesn't think you're very funny." That's what set Richards off. It might have been rude, but it was hardly a racist slur. I wonder why you felt the need to lie and mis-characterize what happened to excuse Richard's tirade? Maybe you're the person who embraces racism and you're looking to justify your own biases?

I don't think its true that most black Americans embrace racism. That is a huge sweeping generalization which really has no basis. It would be like saying that all Americans are fat based on obesity statistics, when clearly there are skinny people walking about. It is inevitable that all people will notice when someone is different from them... whether it be the color of their skin, nationality, gender etc. African Americans did fight hard against oppression, but to say that they embrace it and they are racist in return can be debated.

I'm a black woman and I don't always get upset over name calling. It just depends if I'm on my meds or not! LOL! I'm sorry honey but that's just where it is with me. If I'm not medicated, and a name is called, someone is going down. However, if I am medicated, it would be like that person hadn't said a word to me. You'd be surprised because most of my friends and associates say I argue like a white woman. I get big time intellectual on a mother. But then there's that flip side where I'll go ape sh*t on a person. So basically I have a personality in a bottle and that why I carry my meds like the American Express Card. I do not leave home with out them!

Racism is not acceptable under any circumstances. Those that are "against the whites" in NYC aren't very smart - they should be investigating what really happened before making a judgement. The police officers might have thought the car was being used as a weapon against them. Punish those that are responsible if there was wrong doing instead of punishing those that had nothing to do with it, otherwise the whites can retaliate too, and probably will.

There are racists on both sides of the table, but whites still have more power and wealth in this country and are therefore in a better position to use that power and wealth to block opportunities that should be available to blacks as well as to whites.

Think about what racism is for a second: it is overgeneralized intolerance for an entire group of people based on the negative characteristics of a few. When you claim that "blacks DO embrace racism," you are accusing ALL blacks of embracing racism based on the examples of a few. You're being a racist yourself when you do so.

The whole problem here comes down to tribalism and ethnocentrism. Stop speaking in stereotypes, and stop claiming to be so offended by behavior that is so very similar to your own. If they're overreacting, so are you. If they are racist because they apply their hatred for a people to the population at large, then so are you.

I hear ya. I honestly have nothing against Afircan Americans. I hate that they have been treated poorly in the past. However, I never owned slaves, and I've never knowingly discriminated against anyone of color. Why do I get labeled along with American ancestors? I can't help that I was born white. I can't help that my family was middle class. I don't know why some people think I am out to "get them" just because I'm a white man. Let it go people! Forget the past and just be an American!

It's a shame but that's the world we live in..... I wish more people, black, white, hispanic....whatever..had the courage to come out and say what you did.... actually I was pretty pissed off at Richards when he apologized about the comment he made.... I don't get it....I thought it was only natural... if a certain race doesn't like certain thoughts to be thought about them, then they shouldn't do the actions that create such thoughts....and defenitly not "ok" it for themselves and forbid it for anybody else to say or do...... I hate to sound like a rasict cause Im not, but most black people in America bring it on themselves and are pretty ignorant about it too!

first off numb nuts kramer said ****** like six times before they called him a cracker and secondly, if black people want to boycott white owned stores then let them. why do you care?
its not against the law. if they did it for racist reasons than the stores just need to market to people of all races to get more profit.

did you see american history x? no one made a big deal about that (you know the movie where skinheads beat up mexicans and blacks and refered to every nonwhite in the movie as a **** ****** or kike or wigger.)

I have always found that blacks tend to be more racist than whites. Yes, we as a society continue to pay for the moral sins of the American founding fathers, but it still doesn't make it right.

well when your ppl were slaves for like 400 years, you tend to get away with calling a white guy a cracker. However, you can't call a black person a n*igger. You have no right, you don't understand the power of the word. Its one thing to refer to each other as a "n*igga" but saying "n*igger" is totally different. No matter how you want to play it. To many blacks get killed over racism so just because someone wants to boycot a store does not equal up to as many racist parts blacks have been through. You can continue to try to dipict KKKramer all you want, but of course everyone knows he was wrong, wanna kno why, because ppl are constantly talking about it!
