I am curious to hear answers from Britons. As of late, I have received several snide remarks on Yahoo Answers from people from the UK. Everyone I have ever met from England always seemed very polite and proper (for example: I have some friends that live on the Isle of Man - and they are the sweetest, friendliest, well mannered couple). I have traveled to England 3 times in my life (but the last trip was 20 years ago) - so I am wondering if things have changed. What are your thoughts on this?
Also I read this article that addressed this problem:

Does this seem true to you?

I mean no offense or stereo type in this question. I am speaking from my experience of traveling to England and knowing English people.
I am curious - because it saddens be to think of a culture that is polite and well mannered could be dying.
I live in the southern United States that is known for its friendliness - but in the large cities in the south this seems to be dying also.
