what is the problem

2006-12-11 04:56:44 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

It is a solution of water, ethanol, dextrins, salts, vitamins, proteins and a whole range of other natural chemicals. In the case of real ales and some wheat beers, it also contains a dispersion of yeast cells. It is liquid bread.

The brewing process removes many of the nasty components, such as toxic metals and pathogenic bacteria that may be present in the water supply so, historically at least, beer is safer to drink than water. You will never catch any disease such as cholera from beer.

Also, since beer production required a stable agricultural system for producing its raw products, it has been argued that beer has been a major influence in civilising the world. Prohibition seemed to cause a few more problems than beer does...

Note: As a general rule, sugar is not added to beer - or at least not to the best beers.

Yes, beer is a solution of alcohol and the other ingredients (barley, hops) that make up beer, in water.

No. Although the process of making beer involves adding sugar to the wort (the malt liquid), this is converted to alcohol and carbon dioxide during the fermentation process.

It's a solution until about 12:30, when after a pizza I barf it up and it turns into a semi-solid state.

By a chemical definition, yes. It is not a pure material.

Philosophically, I've always found that amaretto is a better solution (and much better tasting).

Beer is usually the cause.

It's not a solution, it's the problem.
