Shouldn't the entire company get a bonus? Maybe NOT the same amount but secret bonuses is tasteless. Is this a common business practice?

Company bonuses are not illegal but are confidential. Many people get higher bonuses due to their performance or flexiblity. It actually is unethical to talk about how much of a bonus you got to another co-worker. This can harm your career and future bonuses.
You may not be the one getting the $10,000 Christmas bonus but you don't know what that person sacraficed to get it either. Not sexual favors either. Real work.
You may be the next person in line for that big bonus next year so be ethical and don't discss it with your co-worker. It will get back to the CFO or your supervisor.
Happy Holidays

A company can give bonuses in whatever manner they want. An entire company can get a bonus, too, but for what reason? Good performers might merit a bonus others don't deserve. Holiday bonuses should be among all.

Companies are not required to pay a bonus to anyone. They are allowed to pay them to some people but not others. The amount or existance of a bonus is like other payrate information - it is something between the firm and the employee - and should not be public information.

in the adventure that they were giving bonuses or present playing cards, then telling the workers some days before DOES stink. i'd purely assume that the employer isn't giving out something! my own employer is on a pay freeze - my 2d 12 months with the employer and no boost. So - i'm looking round. As for bonuses? yet another poster reported that the CEO's and Lord/woman intense muckety-mucks are probable getting THEIRS. seem out for your self in that branch and purely have a effective substitute with your co-workers. all of us exchanged playing cards (standard and e-playing cards), cookies, etc. That made it relaxing. grab the relaxing and excitement the position you are able to, hon, and a secure, chuffed, and healthful vacation to us all!
