It really sucks! Can I get rid of it somehow and go back to the old one?

The reason for most problems of this type is a faulty installation, and if done over the Internet, chances are it is faulty.
To remove IE 7, Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7 and click uninstall. It will revert back to the version you were using before.
Reinstall IE 7 again and you should not have the problems again. I don't use the tabbed browsing feature and have never had any problems with it. Another source of problems if you have a slow connection is the Anti-Phishing filter. Turn it off to speed up loading of web pages.

Yes... Go to Start button, next select the Settings and Control Panel... Then select the Add and Remove software and it is listed as Windows Internet Explorer 7.... Remove it and reboot...

Yes you can. Go to the control panel, use the option add/remove programs, look for Windows Internet Explorer 7 and remove it.

A good idea is to check the box to see updates.

It did not work with my computer, so I had to remove it and I have not been able to use it. But I am looking forward to be able to in the future.

OR, go under the Tools option and under Toolbars and select "Classic Menu". It will reset most IE 7 to look and work like IE6. Try that first before uninstalling.
