in the web ,we can see millions of websites, i would like to know who creates these and who supports these. are they existing for indefinite time period once they are created?can somebody wishfully alter the content of a site?

most sites are supported by the site owner, whether an individual or a business. some sites, such as myspace, yahoo personal web site, google personal sites only take up space on the server and no charges may be needed to keep it, though there are some restictions as to content and number of pages allowed. others are supported by the advertising on the site and also fees which may be required to use the site, such as ebay which charges a percentage based on the selling price of the item you offer.
