Is there a way to know a specific websites visit rate where the website is not yours?

for example I wana know how many visitors yahoo.com has a day, how can i know?

Unfortunately, there's just no way to be able to tell. A JavaScript actually imbedded in to the web pages' HTML source could count the number of times a page was visited, (and this is exactly how most HIt Counters work), or you could have a program that resided on the same server as the website in question to keep track, but in either case, the data is private and can't be "snooped".
