This guy is in the process of slighlty modifying the RB position and the way teams can use the RB. There have been other great receiving RB's like Faulk but Bush is even different than Faulk. Bush is a RB and a WR. Bush is better receiver than 80% of receivers in the NFL yet he is an excellent RB. Also He is complimented perfectly by Deuce. It is a system that works spectacularly. Meanwhile people want to say that Maroney or Adai or Drew are the best new RB's. I say look at how Bush's presence is changing the way defenses have to play. Even when Bush is not in the play he is in the play and always has to be accounted for in a major way.

What has Reggie Bush done that is different, well in his 1st year in the league he is 2nd in the NFL in receptions. I'm sure that has not been done before.

No...you have to have the personnel the Saints have to make it work...it's not just Bush...but Deuce as well and you might go another decade before a team can do what the Saints are doing with their backfield.

You New Orleans guys need to take a Xanax and calm the F**k down. Because What exactly is Reggie Bush doing that is so different than what Gayle Sayers did, or What Dave Megget did, or what Napolean Kaufman did when he was good, or what Ledainian Tomlinson does, or what Tiki Barber Does, or what Brian Westbrook does for the Eagles, or What Marshall Faulk did for the Rams... I mean, He is a real good player.. but he hasnt changed dick about the position. He's is a smallish, hybrid RB/Flanker... He catches the ball well, and on occasion runs it well. The guys i named were/are ALL better RunningBacks than Bush... and The guys like Tomlinson, Barber, Westbrook, and Faulk Can all Catch the ball as well as Bush.. so what exactly has he changed? the Fact Bush will have 100 receptions at end of year speaks more to the fact he has NOT been as consistant a runner as they had hoped he would be. So gimme a break with the Bush is the greatest thing since sliced bread crap. I know you New Orleans guys are giddy on the 42 points you put on Dallas, but cmon!!

I don't really think Reggie Bush is changing the game. He really is fitting into that same mold as MArshall Faulk. Marshall Faulk was a great running back, but what set him apart was the things he could do in the receiving game. Faulk was a mismatch no matter what. He was faster than any linebacker and could be physical with any cornerback/safety. Reggie Bush is the same way, however, I would like to see what Reggie Bush could do running the ball. Right now, Macallister comes in for running situations. On the Rams, Faulk was in for the running plays as well.

nto that dramatically. he's just the extreme continuation of a trend that's been going on for a while. there are a number of guys who can run and catch extremely well, bush is just better than most of them. it's the trend towards guys who are threats at multiple positions in multiple looks. teams want to maximise their versatility, and guys like that are the best way to do so. bush isn't quite as good a runneras those other guys, beause what made him so special in college was his speed. in the nfl he doesn't have the same kind of edge anymore, and he doesn't have the strength to move the pile of some of the other new backs, but he's a better receiver and better in space.

Wait, he has two good games and now hes revolutionizing a position thats been around for over a hundred years??? He's scat back simply. He still cant run the ball, except on reverses, and last time i checked running the football is important for a runningback. He's a dangerous yards after the catch guy but is just average. Maroney and Jones-Drew and Adai are much better.

I think he's changing the way ppl look at rookies. I think that Reggie Bush showed that rookies can play as well as some amateurs and that they shouldn't be babied by sports commentors. Other ppl inspiring this are Vince Young, Marquise Colston, Laurence Moroney, and Marc Jones Drew

Maybe a little McAllister did a total Bush move last night when he tried to get that TD....But little too early in his career to say hes a new kind of RB.....I will tell you this though the guy is exciting as hell to watch. Hes a great go to guy for Brees. The Texans did him a service by passing on him. He is on the best offense in football led by one great QB in Drew Brees. He is going to do great things in NO.

No, he ain't changing nothin'. He's a tweener -- he's not built to be a full-time running I-back but he's too versatile to be strictly a WR, so he's a hybrid. Not unprecedented but in any case it's not going to change what teams do, because he's nearly unique. Bill Walsh changed the game of football, not Reggie Bush.

Although he is a great talent, I think he is just continuing a process that started with backs like Roger Craig, James Brooks, and Marshall Faulk.
