well, a 93 Cavalier RS can be either 4 cylinder 2.2 Liter OR a V6 3.1 Liter.
You can simply call the dealer and provide the VIN number (located on the bottom driver's side near the bottom of the windshield, visible from outside of vehicle).
OR you could use the other method... open the hood of your car and count the cylinders you see (assuming the engine isn't marked with it's size (2.2 or 3.1)

the RS was a 4 cylinder the Z24 was a 6 cylinder. You can also check by looking under the hood if your engine seas 3.1L than its a six cylinder. If you open the hood and find four wires in a row than its a four cylinder.

6 cyl. provides you with extra ability yet because you do not go all that quick, and do somewhat interior of sight utilizing then the 4 cyl will be purely right because it truly is more effective gasoline mileage. The 6 cyl. will actually have a touch bit a smoother **** to it compared to the 4 cyl. yet when you're concerned about gasoline, choose the 4 cylinder, it would probable be purely right.

Most likely a 4 cylinder. I can't recall hearing of any 6 cylinder Cabvaliers. Why didn't you ask that when you bought it?
Another way to tell. Count the spark plugs. 1 per cylinder.

Open the hood and look at the engine. If it has a large 3.1 embossed into the top, it's a 6-cylinder. If it has 2.2 or nothing (which is more likely), it's the 4 cylinder.

If I thought you knew what a spark plug was, I would just tell you to count them. There are these black wires that come from one place on the engine. This place is called the distributor. There will be one wire coming out of the center. The other ones go to each spark plug. There is a spark plug for each cylinder.

Open the hood and count the spark plugs.
One spark plug per cylinder.
or you can count the spark plug wires from the distributor cap. One wire per spark plug.
You may need your owners manual for this.
Or check a Chilton's manual for you make/model/year of car. Most public libraries stock the Chilton's manuals.
