I finally watched the movie Anna & the King(1999) with Chow Yun Fat & was very pleased to see the story finally in a more positive and slightly more realistic tone- Thailand has had bans against all of the stories that followed due to the historical innacuarcy and porteyal of King Mongkut. Even the 1999 film failed to get approval by the Thai government. My question is...

How many people actually know that the story that is always told is as inaccurate as it is?(Due to the portreyal of it as complete truth)

(Side note: I do realize that the films and musicals all came from books, and Anna's diary)

Apart from Anna actually existing, it was all made up. I doubt the King could sing! lol.

I know....however artistic license is the things that sells movies and musicals. Especially if the actual goings-on were dull and made for a lousy screenplay.
