Columbus was Italian, having come from Genoa. He sailed under the Spanish flag, however, because he received his funding from Spain.

What Nationality Was Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus information is not exactly known.

So here is what is most widely accepted worldwide:
He was born and raised for most of his childhood life in Genoa, Italy. He is of Italianate blood.

Although There are some theories he was born in Spain ( Catalonia to be exact ) they cannot be proven, even with today's modern DNA miracle technologies. Further testing of this theory will reveal taxing questions as to why he would then have to travel to Spain and ask the King & Queen for their cooperation in providing him with proper ships and funding. If he was already a citizen of Catalonia ) The whole scenario between the king and queen would have occured quite differently then it did. This particular theory, (of him being born in Catalonia) leaves unanswered questions and provides for further theories to be tested at length.

Tip: Both of these theories (Catalonia and Genoa) are highly debated worldwide, as we will not know of his real nationality until we finalize testing on his DNA and other clothes, language skills manuscripts, logbooks and other various articles from his voyage.

Hope This Helps
Merry Christmas

actually its still unknown

The identity of Columbus is still not certain. It is most widely accepted that he was of Italian ancestry. More specifically he is believed to have been from the Republic of Genoa, in Italy,[1] although it has been surmised he could have been from Catalonia, Spain, and Portugal where the greatest navigators of his time lived.
