I don't know if it is possible have not heard any good ideas how to do this. I used to work in a emergency room and here is what I observed the poor people that had medicaid and medicare was in the emergency room all the time for colds, headache, cut finger, silly stuff like that because they did not have to pay for it. Now just imagine if millions of people did that, you would be waiting months or years for an operation, the government doctor which would be the least competent, you would not able to sue when they botch things up. The waste would bankrupt us. How does that saying go (Be careful what you wish for)

We can't. That is socialized healthcare and it has proven to be a failure. I agree that we need a more comprehensive healthcare plan but we can't just give free healthcare to all citizens. It will break the budget and cause an inflation.

I have put a lot of thought to this and it would not take drastic reform but simple fixing of the existing system.

1. The federal government itself would dissolve all of it duplicate systems of health benefits. Medicare/ VA/ and such.

2. The federal government would put a minimal care policy in effect that all insurance companies must provide every US CITIZEN. Although this would be a bare minimum and not sufficient.

3. The federal government would send a voucher to each citizen for this policy. Veterans or other special interest groups could be given a greater value on their vouchers given them more buying power for better policy coverage.

4. The roof of medical care is built, now individual states and corporations could add value by adding to the benefits under this umbrella. So if a state wished to bankrupt itself by providing for everyone that is its own doing, corporations would still be enticed to provide health care benefit to attract better employees, etc. building a socialistic/capitalistic medical model. A Win/Win situation.

5. For example (and this example is simplified): Every citizen is covered for one check up every five years and can get free flu shots.

Veterns gets extra money on there voucher determined via the VA from thier indivdual claim (perhaps also determined as to where they reside... just trying to get the general idea out)

Retired (over 65 get some cheap presciptions or some kind of addtional moneys for a policy which would cover them)

The state in which they live deciedes to kick in an extra $100 a year for its residence.

Employers and individuals would be left with the slack but individuals would still retain the choice of which providers and plans they would like to retain.

As we are already paying health care for half of all Mexicans and other S. Americans
Deport all ILLEGAL alien invaders (Not just Mexicans)
and there will be enough for all Americans that need free health care

Ask the soviet union.

Equality for all is called socialism.

What we need to do is reduce litigation cost so that doctors insurance and overhead is less and they aren't as concerned about getting slapped with a 10 million dollar law suit.

By taking off all our stupid regulations on the health care market and making a true free market. Free market reforms have always solved regulatory nightmares....like the deregulation of the trucking industry drove down shipping costs and lowerd consumer costs of goods sold. As government expands, liberty contracts.

I feel that if our tax money was spent a little more wisely there would be more than enough to cover quality healthcare for all CITIZENS

Send the sick to Canada.

Take some money given to Exxon (and the like) who made 40 Billion dollars in profit in the last 12 months. Just admit to overspending in Iraq, and promise not to make a hasty decision like that again.

that is a trick question.

if you "give" healthcare to every american it can not be quality care. How do you expect to get treated for your cancer if there is a waiting list for 6 months due to runny noses?
