Hi, I'm from the Netherlands
I see you've asked this question many times. I understand that gay marriage is not possible in Greece?
As for gay or straight marriage in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, it takes at least one Dutch citizen (or immigrant holding a Dutch passport).
You will find this at the latest PDF file of Ministry of Justice, The Netherlands
(check page 2):

By the way: I'm sorry for the stupid remarks that some of these people gave you.
Best of luck!

Or, more to the point...would a European consider marrying an American? How is that for 'spin'?

You can get married any where you want to ... the catch is that most states and countries will not recognize it as a legal marriage. You don't need to go to Amsterdam to get married but if you want it legal you will have to petition the courts.

In order to be able to get married in Holland, one of the parts should have Dutch nationality, or at least be registered as living in the country. Thus, no.
