Finding the center of gravity of an object is not always the easiest task to accomplish. It all depends on how complex the geometric object is and whether the object is composed from multiple objects containing different weight densities. With simple symetric 2d/3d shapes (circle, sphere, rectangle, cube, etc) the center of gravity is always found in the middle of the shape, but for complex shapes you may have to try and break them up into simpler shapes, find the center of gravity for the simple shapes, then take the average of the centers y and x coordinates while keeping in mind these shapes' area ratios. I find that if you are looking for the simplest way possible to find (not calculate center of gravity), get yourself to a cad station (Autocad, Solidworks, Pro/E etc)... , draw the shape, and execute the "Find the Center of Mass/Gravity" function. Good luck...

First break the shape down into simple shapes that you know the centers of. Like squares, triangles, etc.
Then multiply the area of each shape times the distance to its centroid. Add up all the answers and divide by the total area.
This will give you the distance to the centroid of the larger area.

An easy way to do this is to spin the object. The object will find its own center.
