No, not me . I've been to Liverpool. It's that there are so many people here that it isn't socially critical enough for them to know world geography. They worry about the local stuff and that's about all. I try to know a bit about everything. It's to my advantage not to be totally ignorant.

no not at. first of all London is the capital of England which is derived from the Germanic people (tribe) called Anglo Saxons which concurred certain Celtic people which became England. I am from US and i probable know more about the history than 60% of the people over there. just because US is a mutt country doesn't mean most of us don't know who we are. if i had it my way i would either move England or German (if i knew fluent German). because that is what i am (Germanic). what i don't understand is when people say they want to be a part of this country. come for a visit. this country is the most crooked money grubbing con artist country in the world. oh and stupid. there's other things that i don't think i should not talk about over the Internet.

.... and you don't assume all Americans live in New York or Los Angeles? Not all americans can find their own cities on maps! what makes you think they could identify the UK or London anyway? it's sad... but true. I may not be familiar with all the different cities in the UK, but I definitely ASK where that is! :)

I can certainly relate! I'm from Canada and apparently an awful lot of Americans still think we live in one season: Winter! Also, didja know that the Queen runs Canada? Seems lots of Americans think so? By the way: NO! I DO NOT GORDIE IN TORONTO!! I have never personally seen a moose or beaver on the streets of Vancouver! Just goes to show ya, eh?

you're not from London! wow.. no i do not assume that you are from London, but it does not mean that i know that your hometown is at, or what it is. i barely know the geography of the country of where the little countries are at.. and i do not even know what you call the little countries. cause you got England, wales, Scotland and part of Ireland right? and a few of those small ones you just made part of those larger ones right? i really don't know that much.. but it does not mean that i think you live in London.

When I was in Las Vegas last year most Americans asked if we were from London. The one who didn't told me America paid for world war 2

yeh some of them do - and someone i know went to america and people asked them if they knew various people that lived in the UK coz they assumed that everyone knew each other or something.
But most americans seem to think that the UK and England are the same thing.

I certainly do not. I like knowing what different parts of the UK people are from - but then again, I like knowing that about mostly everyone I come in contact with - not just from the UK but like India and such. So, where is your hometown?

Face it: many Americans are ignorant about their own history or culture. Don't expect a lot of them to even pick out your country on a world map. Blame it on their education system. Oh and expect to repeat yourself until you're blue in the face, about anything to do with anything beyond their hometowns, okay?

I grew up in America-and I never did! I was well aware of various parts of England-possibly because of my interest in English history and the paranormal. (The 2 subjects become easily linked when reading.)
You'd be surprised at the amount of people I spoke to when I moved here who thought I knew all these famous people because I came from America! There are misinformed people everywhere.
