I would say that about 9.30pm is reasonable - kids of that age need plenty of sleep as they are growing more than they have done since they were babies. I'd let him read for half an hour before lights out - this will help him to settle and also improve his literacy skills.

When I was 14, I was in bed by 9, lights out by 930. I usually took that time to either set out my clothes for the next day or read.

In High School, it is different because a lot of work must be done if the student takes a hard course load, I usually stayed up many nights, but it was working.

Through that, I learned to balance the need of sleep and work, which helps me a lot now.

All kids need different amounts of sleep so there is no one right answer. They need to go to bed early enough that they don't feel tired the next day. My 14 y.o. son usually goes to bed between 10 and 11 (to get up around 7:15). This is adjusted by how tired he is and how much homework he has. In general he has needed slightly less sleep than many of his peers.

a 14 year old boy should get at least 8-9 hours of sleep a day. he is at the age where he is starting to grow fast now or grwoing already. he will need more sleep to combat the energy spent in growing. And if he is doing any extra activities such as sports, he will need more sleep. depending on his morning schedule, he should be at the age were he knows how much sleep is enough. let him set the bedtime for responsibility purposes, then monitor or regulate it. When I was 14, my bedtime was around 10:00pm until I graduated. I just knew when i was tired, to hit the sack. hope this helps.

Depends on how mature the 14 yr. old is. I would go by: how are their school grades? do they do what is expected of them at home and at school? are they involved with sports or cheer leading? depends on what the 14 yr.olds life has going on in it and how do they feel about a proper bed time? My girlfriend's daughter stays up till 10 pm on school nights. she also is a straight a student and on the honor role.

I don't fall asleep at school or am late for school, or even have trouble getting up I have my alarm set on normal (my alarm is my momma) and umm well I jump out of bed!! It can depend. Every child is different.

So long as he gets a good nights sleep, at least 7 or 8 hours, or maybe slightly more if he has had an active day.

Try and come to some agreement, and let him have some sort of say at what time he goes to bed.

Be fair, but always insist he is up at least one hour before he leaves for school, to ensure a good healthy breakfast, and is wide awake.

Hope this helps.
