Though your argument is not without merit. It would seem that you are placing the burden of reality on someone outside of yourself. That being the case then the reality cannot be yours, with the introduction of someone else it becomes a hybrid. Valid yes, but no longer singular. We always live within our singular reality, even with the presents of someone else within our lives. It cannot be any other way. We live, we grow and we die alone. I know this can be terribly depressing, however it is only through what we share with others that we are able to overcome that loneliness. Reality has always been based upon the physical references that we encounter in life, it cannot be otherwise, but it must always be singular as no one else is capable of living your life.

Hello Andy, I can see what you are getting at but Im not so sure that its quiet right in all cases. When we are with someone our reality takes a turn for the worse and so does our judgement...an example of this could be..you want to wear a certain item of clothing or buy something, your other half does not approve, there by casting doubt in your mind if you should actually go ahead with your own decisions...however, you say that you feel as if nothing is real when you are alone...so I wonder what reality it is that you think is not real?
Being alone one has to make all the decisions, take the right actions, therefore you make responses...if you think something is not real, what you are actually saying is that life has no meaning for you when you are alone?
Being alone does alter reality but only in that your reality is not shared, until of course you go outside...
Lets suppose you are alone and a fire breaks out...if you are alone or not you will still get up and run or call the fire station wont you?
If you want to chat about this come look me up.

I guess it could be that way, for you. I lean more towards the idea that, if you're not alone, that's your reality. If you are alone, that's your reality. Reality, to me is, the way it is. If you're alone, that's what is. I do understand what you mean though. If you where in solitary confinement for a while, I'm sure it would alter your reality a great deal.

the only reality that exists is the reality perceived by an individual we all have our own realities, they are all as relavent as each others. when we have companywe take on a little of the other persons reality,it can make life interesting or very difficult depending on their sanity
