I just started my 5 month old and she loves it too!
my feeding schedule is like this:
wakes up, nurses (8am)
around 9:30 cereal (about 4 tbsp)
nap in here
noon, veggie (1/4-1/3 of the little bottle), a little cereal (2 tbsp) and top off with nursing
nurse in the afternoon & nap
supper, veggie (1/4-1/3 of the little bottle), a little cereal (2 tbsp)
nurse at bedtime (6:45)
some times she eats it all and other times she won't. Look for cues they are done eating: looking away, won't open mouth, cries. Don't force him to eat if he doesn't want to. /Keep it a positive experience. Id he doesn't like a food, try it again. It takes some kids 10 tries to eat some foods. AND start with veggies first, not fruit. if you start with fruit, he may refuse veggies that aren't as sweet.
Good luck!!!

I was told by my pediatrician not to start feeding anything other than formula/breast milk for six months but I found that my baby was "still acting hungry" after each feeding so I started substituting rice mixed with formula on one bottle. This definately seemed to help. I think that if your baby is taking well to baby food....just let them tell you when they are full. Believe me, they will. They will just lose interest in the food or even turn their heads away. My daughter would only take about half a jar at a time and I would feed her a little fruit in the morning and then maybe a veggie in the evening. She always still wanted a bottle though so she would get a little of both. At 4 1/2 months old, I would not start substituting baby food for the bottle quite yet but use the food as an addition to the bottle.....hope this helps and just remember, pay close attention and your baby will tell you when they are full. :) Take care!

I don't have children so the only suggestion I can make is based upon what I've learned from my friends that do have children. They have always followed the pediatrician's guidelines on feeding solid food. There are precautions you have to take about introducing new foods at certain times because of possible food allergies. Bottom line, check with your pediatrician. I am sure there will be others that will post responses too that will help out as well. Good luck. :)

Most doctors recommend once a day in the beginning, working up to twice a day. Give it to him at any time you chose, about an hour after his bottle. Let him decide how much, when he stops paying attention, spitting it all out or closing his mouth he's done.

seems such as you have have been given a hungry infant! =) My son is now 5 months previous and has been "ingesting" solids for about 2 months now. I basically provide him one "solid" meal an afternoon with cereal and bananas, or apples, some thing delicate. It feels like your infant is tolerating cereal properly sufficient from a spoon that he could properly be waiting for some point one million ingredients. they are the gentlest for them, and as consistently start up very slowly, one after the different. Wait a minimum of a few days to a week in the previous attempting a clean food. terrific desires, and luxuriate in. =)

Personally I would have waited until he was 6 months old. This is the recommendation and its best for their digestive systems. But since you've already started I would suggest small at first. No more then 1 jar a day.

when they are hungry you will know. my kid was a hog, she would eat the whole jar. i would feed her 3 jars of baby food a day and a bottle with just a little bit of cereal in it the other times. i wish she would eat like that now. she is so picky with food.

He's to young for you to supplement a bottle for food. I would give him his bottle first, and if he's still hungry, give him some food after. That way he'll get all the nutrients of the formula, and he'll always be full.

I always let my girls eat as much as they want and then top it off with a bottle of formula... I would make an 8 oz and let them drink as much as they wanted. After awhile you will get used to what your son needs.
