Most of the time...YES and many a times NO. Because while chatting things that are said does not have any authenticity. Even after chatting, when you talk to a person - youjust hear and you can judge a person to some extent. Meeting a person gives you a way to understand and analyse about actual behaviour, attitude, looks and age.
Similarly things also depend how good you are in judging people.

Yes, I've had a few people I've chatted with by e-mail, IM, and lastly telephone, and we've met in person, as well as text'd when they and I got text messaging on our cell phones.
