I assume your battery is dead or low at times.
Drive the car to the store. Some places will come out and test the battery in the car. Others require you to bring it in. If so take it out (really easy with a 1/2" socket and a 9/16" socket (take the negative cable off first - the black one)
BUT.. your battery may also be going dead because you have something on in the car that 'sucks' too much power. Anything newly installed? Car Alarms that go off when no one hears them?
keep that in mind...

All you need is a friend a and a multimeter set on continuous current.
1) Check the voltage of the battery - if its less than 12.6 volts, charge it.
2) Have your friend crank over the engine to start it. If the battery drops below 10 volts while cranking, its probably shot.
3) Check the voltage with engine running - if the alternator is working you should read around 14 volts.
Have fun!

If your battery is three or four years old and you notice the ''cranking'' of the engine sounds a little slow, or perhaps you've come out in the morning and you re battery's nearly dead, it's time to buy a new one. Also I believe you can bring your battery to any Wall mart and they'll check it for free. That just happens to be where I would suggest you go should you decide to purchase one!

Jump start the car, remove the positive cable. If it continues to run it is probably the battery and not the alternator. That's because the car can't continue to run without a properly working alternator. The battery is only used for starting.

maximum chain vehicle factors can carry out a load attempt on your battery out of your truck or you may purchase a hydrometer and save on with that's guidelines, the easy way is to do a guessestimate with the help of finding at how previous the battery is, it quite is on a sticker.

take a pair of jumper cables attach to battery and touch the other ends together and see how strong the spark is and you can test like that.

Your local parts store will usually test your entire charging system for free. That will include your battery, alternator and regulator.I've had them do it for me many times.

a simple test light will do..... connect one end to somthing that should have power running to it and ground the other end to a metal surface..... if the test light lights up then ur good to go. If the light doesnt light up, make sure the ground id good and/or make sure the other thing should in fact have power running through it
