The new hard drive is installed in the pc but when I go to my computer, it doesn't recogonize it. It knows its there because it found new hardware. How do I set this up?

If your jumper and hardware connectins are correct...
Right click on the my computer and select manage, in the list select disk management there u can see your new Hdd in Black or Gray colour.Right click on the partition and clikc format and select the format and format it.After formate is completed u can see a new partition in my computer

Set the jumper correctly and reformat it. HDD nowadays should be plug and play. If not, try installing the driver with the accompanied CD.

i think your hard drive is not properly installed.
Open you CPU Case and check the data cable and Jumper settings of ur hard drive.(you should contact to a hardware master to do this).
you should open the system setup during the system boot, to check is it recognized or not.

if it appears in system main setup, i think it will appear automaticaly in winddows xp.

Easiest is to add an external USB DRive, its plug and play, a 200Gb hard drive is about $99

set the jumper of your new harddrive and make it slave not primary
