I picked some up at Walgreens but haven't used any yet...are they safe? Effective?? My daughter is only 3 1/2 months old but just cut her first teeth.

My son started teething around that time. If you read on the Orajel,it says for babies 4 months and older. The teething tablets are all I use for my son. They're all natural. And if your little girl is like my son, she's drooling so much that Orajel wouldn't last a minute. Also, when you use Orajel, it not only numbs their gums, but the rest of their mouth too.

The teething tablets work wonders for my son. They relax him without knocking him out. The only problem I've ever had is this: the bottle says to put them under the tongue. He would not keep them there, so I just put them in his jaw and watch him. He's gotten to the point now(so it seems) that he "gets" what they're for. He doesn't fight about taking them or anything! I would tell you to go ahead and use them. My son has been taking them for teething off and on for about 3 months now. And he's perfectly healthy. Just remember, teething will pass! I know it's a stressful time, and I think that the tablets will help her(and you!) a lot. Congrats on the little one!

There is a pack of homeopathic (natural) teething powder that you can buy from most chemists called "teetha".
I swear my life on them they work so much better than the teething gels and are completely safe. You just tip the contents of the sachet into the baby's mouth and it soaks into the gums and really helps stop the pain and inflammation, if your baby uses a dummy thats good for getting the grains to soak in too.

First of all, let me just say WOW!! Her first teeth that early? Better keep your steaks out of reach. And yes... teething tablets are safe and effective. IF used in moderation. If you read the ingredients, you will most likely find something called belladonna. The more common name for that substance is deadly nightshade. One of the most toxic poisons occuring in nature. But in small ammounts, it's a wonderful anasthetic.

Absolutely! They wouldn't be allowed to sell them if they weren't safe.

I have used Hyland's Teething Tablets with all three of my kids with great success. I've even taken them myself a few times. Don't worry about choking as they dissolve almost as soon as they touch the tongue.

More info about homeopathy below.

ETA:
And don't worry about the belladonna. I know someone who contatcted Hyland's to ask about that once. They were told that the child would need to eat *approximately 8 entire bottles* to get enough for it to begin to even have any negative effect at all.

I know the tablets work well. My sister used them for her lil one. I also know she was sick more often than usual. She took her to the dr and he had told her that the teething pills contained opium. He suggested at that time for my sister to stop using them. Afterwards, my neice cleared up.

When I had my babies there was no such thing out. Good job asking before giving it to your baby.
I always froze banana's and other fruits giving that to my boys when babies.
Good luck and you are being a great mommy :0)
