I noticed a lot of older people are just downright mean, Any idea why?

Also anybody know of a nice place that isnt a freaking retirement community? By nice I mean, liveable, clean, not a big city. Need trees and water too.,

A) It's a combination of things that makes them seem demanding and grouchy. Loneliness often plays a big part in it, as does bitterness that their lives haven't turned out the way they would have liked. Many older people are very resistant to change, as well, so the changes in our society make them feel out of place.

B) The only place that comes to mind is Boulder, Colorado. It's a college town, so there are a lot of younger folks there and a lot of events going on. It's also a very liberal and "green-friendly" town - bars have been non-smoking in Boulder since at least 1997 when I lived there, and there are laws preventing buildings higher than 4 stories in order to preserve the view of the mountains. Definitely a lot of trees and water, and the view of the Rockies is amazing.

Unfortunately it isn't just the elderley who can be demanding and grouchy..you just have to look at some teenagers..they make the elderley look like amateurs.

I cant blame the old people being grouchy and demanding.wouldn't you be if all you had was about £60s a week to pay tax's and heating plus food many old people are dieing of the cold because they cant pay all there bills. because too money people are benefit fraud's. not only that its not the old peoples attitude we should be thinking about its the young peoples that are shocking.

well, i work in a nursing home. the reason most of them are grouchy is because, they are always in pain somewhere in the body, they are always cold, they are losing their vision and hearing, and they have trouble with their bowels. Their children won't visit them, young people usually insult them for being slow or old. and they have to adjust to being old.

Because they are old. Doctors are keeping them alive. Bodies aren't meant to live to be so f*cking old you can barely move.
Don't come to Florida, unless you love old people, they are like cockroaches here.

older people are not mean at all.. its just that they have seen the world more then us and then when we grow up and tell them whats right and whats wrong then they get hurt because they taught us all of that stuff and now we are telling them..
