One program I've seen a few places I've lived was the "Blue Ribbon" program for schools of excellence. This is non-profit organization somehow tied to the department of education. They have a website/ conferences/ criteria etc.
The website is http://www.blueribbonschools.com/
Good luck

Well in schools of excellence: most likly the schools have good academic attendence, high test scores, good performances in competions, high but easy to get into requirnments for the students to get in, and others! i go to Metro High School in Missouri so if you need more info just contact the board of education and there has to be come site that tells you!
