It's a great way of media marketting. The only people who think that the winner will be an all-time great are some of the public, but they are the ones texting and voting!
In my mind, while Leona has a fantastic voice, her personality is quite dull. While she is quite exceptional in the UK, she brings nothing to the US market that they don't already have.
Plus, I think that she looks a bit like a potato head (sorry)!

In 10 years time there probably wont be many people listening to radio anyway.
I think the runners up almost always do better than the winners (apart from Will Young he is still doing good).
Which is why I am happy that Ben came 3rd.
Last year Journey South sold more than Shayne Ward, doesnt that tell you something?

Well I'll certainly be in Piccadilly to watch the show if she does! You're right though, I mean Girls Aloud have done well considering they were from reality TV but they're not going to stand the test of time and be remembered as 'greats'! Will Young has done well and I reckon Leona will win but she doesn't have the charisma to survive long!

Because the kind of people who watch X-Factor are easily captivated by that kind of trashy tv. So the kind of people who enter are the kind of people who have high dreams that they just aint gonna fill! Sure they can sing but theres loads of other factors that people just dont take any notice of! Attitude, advertisement, celebrity status... if they flash or speed or do some crazy sh*t at a random MP or for the nearest newspaper, thatll get them into the public eye and therefore more likely to sell loads of albums! Its all crazy.

Too right! & Leona is a been-there-done-that scenario. She won't crack the U.S. (speaking as a native of the States). We've got enough screaming, whiney kids flooding the market with trash music...don't need another.
Ben would do well to try it because the U.S. market likes that type of originality.

It's all just hype. They always say this year the winner wii be huge, when they release one or two singles and then disappear to the bottom of the bargain bin in woolies.
